At Albanian College Tirana (ACT), we believe young children are capable, curious and full of ideas. Our Early Years Department welcomes children aged three to six (EY1, EY2 and EY3) into a warm, safe and supportive environment. Here they are listened to, valued and encouraged to follow their interests.
Strong relationships are at the heart of our approach. When children feel secure and known, they are ready to explore, take risks and connect with others. We work in close partnership with families and see parents as their child’s first teachers.
ACT’s core values guide everything we do. We help children grow as curious inquirers, caring communicators and confident thinkers. We place particular emphasis on independence and resilience, the foundations for lifelong learning.
Our Early Years curriculum is concept-driven and taught through inquiry and play. Each year, children explore four units of inquiry, each built around a transdisciplinary theme. The units bring together learning from English Language, Albanian Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Music, Visual Arts, and Personal, Social and Physical Education (PSPE).
Play is how young children make sense of the world, so it is central to every day. Children build, create, investigate, talk, negotiate and solve problems in carefully designed learning spaces, both indoors and outdoors. Early literacy and numeracy develop through purposeful play and focused small-group teaching. Specialist teachers add further to children’s learning.
Through this approach, children develop social, self-management, communication, thinking and research skills.
Our goal is for every child to leave Early Years as a confident, independent and resilient learner. We want them to communicate effectively, work well with others and take ownership of their learning and actions.
